In cooperation with the International Institute for Creative Development, the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, and the Innov8 Hub (Skill G Innovation Center), the Public Affairs Section took part in the September 21 opening of an exhibition dedicated to artworks made using recycled materials. “Upcycling,” also known as creative reuse, is the process of transforming by-products, waste materials, or unwanted products into new materials or products of better value and quality. Fifteen Abuja-based artists took part in the two-week creative workshop that produced the artworks.
The U.S. Embassy supports Nigeria’s efforts to promote a sustainable economy and one that includes artists and entrepreneurs. The artworks also demonstrate that that creativity and innovation are key drivers of economic growth. The exhibition in the lobby of the Transcorp Hotel will continue through September 27.
